| From Lincoln: Take A158, through Wragby, keeping right at the mini roundabout, after approx 3 miles, turn right at The New Midge Pub. We are one mile along there on the right (up a long drive). From Horncastle: Take A158 towards Lincoln, through Baumber, ignore the turns to Minting. Turn left at The New Midge Pub. We are one mile along there on the right (up a long drive). Satellite Navigation If you use a ‘sat nav’ please be aware that when you turn at The New Midge Pub you must proceed for one mile. Greenfield Farm is set in rural surroundings, one mile from Minting village but is easy to find (A158 one mile). It is centrally placed for exploring all that Lincolnshire has to offer. There are several good pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages and town of Horncastle (menus available in your bedroom) or visit the local pub and restaurant, the Sebastopol Inn, just one mile away in Minting village. Below is a taster of places to visit during your stay, offering just a snapshot of the many varied things that Lincolnshire has to offer. |
The lovely Lincolnshire Wolds, an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' (AONB) is five minutes away. It is a haven for walkers for leisurely strolls, serious treks or pub walks. Wander around 'Tennyson Country' with quaint villages and churches waiting to be explored. The Viking Way, a long distance footpath, passes through the market town of Horncastle. Horncastle has a wonderful variety of shops selling antiques and collectables. A panoramic drive across the Wolds takes you to Louth, ‘the Capital of the Wolds’, a Georgian market town with wonderful architecture and many independent shops. St James Church spire soars 295 feet high, the tallest parish spire in the country. |

Just 20 minutes drive takes you to Lincoln, dominated by one of Europe's finest Cathedrals, sitting high on the hill. Close by is the Norman Castle, built by William the Conqueror in 1068, on the site of a former Roman Fortress. There you will find one of four remaining copies of the Magna Carta. The Cathedral Quarter is also home to the Bishops Old Palace, managed by English Heritage. This is an area steeped in heritage, with timbered buildings and cobbled streets, individual shops, restaurants and cafes. Take the walk down 'Steep Hill' to explore modern Lincoln - with shopping and the University, or to take a boat trip from the Brayford Pool. |
We are close to the East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre with Just Jane the Lancaster Bomber, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at Coningsby and many other notable RAF memorials and exhibitions. Cadwell Park Race Circuit is fifteen minutes drive away, easily one of the most picturesque circuits and perhaps one of British motorsport's best-kept secrets. Horse racing at Market Rasen, Lincolnshire's only racecourse, is nine miles away. |

Take a drive to the splendid red brick medieval Tattershall Castle, owned by the the National Trust. Explore the six floors and climb the 150 steps from the basement to the battlements. Visit the Collegiate Church of the Holy Trinity next door, also built by Ralph Cromwell. The Spa town of Woodhall is close by, the home of the English Golf Union (EGU) and the finest inland golf course in the country. It is also home to 'The Dambusters' 617 squadron memorial. In inclement weather go back in time and visit The Kinema in the Woods with its unusual rear-projection system cinema with an operational Compton theatre organ. |
